A Hybrid Metaheuristic for the Unrelated Parallel Machine Scheduling Problem

چکیده
The unrelated parallel machine scheduling problem aims to assign jobs independent machines with sequence-dependent setup times so that the makespan is minimized. When many practical considerations are introduced, solving resulting challenging, especially when problems of realistic sizes interest. In this study, in addition conventional objective minimizing makespan, we further consider burn-in (B/I) procedure required practice; need ensure results satisfy B/I ratio constrained by equipment. To solve complicated problem, propose a population-based simulated annealing algorithm embedded variable neighborhood descent technique. Empirical show proposed solution strategy outperforms commonly used commercial optimization package; it can obtain schedules better than practice, and does more efficient manner.

A Novel B and B Algorithm for a Unrelated Parallel Machine Scheduling Problem to Minimize the Total Weighted Tardiness
This paper presents a scheduling problem with unrelated parallel machines and sequencedependent setup times that minimizes the total weighted tardiness. A new branch-and-bound (B and B) algorithm is designed incorporating the lower and upper bounding schemes and several dominance properties. The lower and upper bounds are derived through an assignment problem and the composite dispatching rule ...
متن کاملSolving a New Multi-objective Unrelated Parallel Machines Scheduling Problem by Hybrid Teaching-learning Based Optimization
This paper considers a scheduling problem of a set of independent jobs on unrelated parallel machines (UPMs) that minimizesthe maximum completion time (i.e., makespan or ), maximum earliness ( ), and maximum tardiness ( ) simultaneously. Jobs have non-identical due dates, sequence-dependent setup times and machine-dependentprocessing times. A multi-objective mixed-integer linear programmi...
متن کاملA Hybrid Algorithm for Solving the Unrelated Parallel Machine Scheduling Problem with Sequence Dependent Setup Times
This work addresses the unrelated parallel machine scheduling problem where setup times are sequence-dependent and machine-dependent. The maximum completion time of the schedule, known as makespan, is considered as an objective to minimize. Few studies has been done about this problem, which is a motivation to the development of this work. Other motivations are the fact that it is NP-Hard and i...
متن کاملHybrid tabu search and a truncated branch-and-bound for the unrelated parallel machine scheduling problem
We consider the problem of scheduling a number of jobs on a number of unrelated parallel machines in order to minimize the makespan. We develop three heuristic approaches, i.e., a genetic algorithm, a tabu search algorithm and a hybridization of these heuristics with a truncated branch-and-bound procedure. This hybridization is made in order to accelerate the search process to near-optimal solu...
متن کاملA Hybrid Searching Method for the Unrelated Parallel Machine Scheduling Problem
The work addresses the NP-hard problem of scheduling a set of jobs to unrelated parallel machines with the overall objective of minimizing makespan. The solution presented proposes a greedy constructive algorithm followed by an application of a Variable Neighborhood Decent strategy that continually improves the incumbent solution until a local optimum is reached. The strength of the approach li...
